Our  Background.

Since 2009 Oakland Career Training Depot (OCTD) has been committed to offering a wide range of services tailored to the needs of diverse underserved and underprivileged populations of East Oakland. This includes financial literacy programs, mental health support, and partnerships with community organizations. OCTD has been committed to providing workforce development opportunities, employment, job training and OJT programs for individuals facing significant employment barriers such populations as; Veterans and eligible spouses, adults on public assistance, low-income individuals, Re-Entry individuals,

At-Risk youths ages 18 - 24, individuals with English -As- A- Second language, individuals who are basic skills deficient and  Physically disabled.

 

Our solid history in job trainings, employment and experience with state regulatory compliances in the state of California as exemplified in our Barbering &  Cosmetology and Nursing Assistance programs sets us apart as being knowledgable in the upcoming expansion in training programs such as Construction, Culinary Arts, Pharmacy technican, Medical Assistance, Plobotomy, Music and Arts. OCTD state of California trainings outcome numbers speak for themselves as illustrated below:

Most recent year 2023:

                          Barbering & Cosmetology:  Licensure 100% , Job Placement 98% , Agreggate: 1260 students employed in 15 years

                                          Nursing Assistance: Licensure 98%, Job Placement 98%, Agreggate: 250 student in 2 years

 

As a result, OCTD exhibits our strong commitment to our community by employing and training staff who are deeply knowlegeable about the unemployment and high crime rates challeges faced in Oakland. OCTD staff members are in most cases alumni of the OCTD training programs, which allows us to elabolate the growth recognition of the need to provide equitable career services to all individuals, regardless of their background by example. From early vocational guidance efforts to modern, data-driven interventions. Hence evolving to meet the diverse needs of our underserved and underprivileged individuals in our community through employment by achieving their career aspirations.
